Along Colorado's Front Range, there are currently three species of special concern that are linked to the Clean Water Act, Section 404 permitting process. These are Preble's meadow jumping mouse (Zapus hudsonius preblei), the Ute ladies'-tresses orchid (Spiranthes diluvialis), and the Colorado butterfly plant (Guara neomexicana ssp. coloradensis.)
Biologists and ecologists that collaborate with Sweetgrass Design have extensive experience performing threatened, endangered, and sensitive species assessments and surveys for these three species and more.
We have conducted over 200 habitiat assessments and surveys for the mouse and over 300 for the orchid. Since it's listing date in 2001, we have also performed dozens for the Colorado butterfly plant. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service accepts all of our habitat assessments and surveys.
Additionally, our biologists/ecologists have compiled Biological Assessments, designed mitigation plans, and developed success criteria as required under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act.
