Sweetgrass Design seeks to create and enhance wildlife habitat by integrating principals of wildlife management and conservation biology with principals of landscape architecture, planning, and design.
Together these fields work to design landscapes that are self sustaining and beneficial to wildlife. We strive to contribute to biological diversity by minimizing fragmentation and providing continuous biological corridors.
Some of our project examples that incorportate wildlife habitat enhancement include:
Big Canoe Golf Course in Big Canoe, GA - development of a wildflower program to enhance the beauty of the out of play areas and to provide habitat for birds and insects
Kiawah Island resort in Kiawah Island, SC - development of a series of butterfly habitat gardens
Dewees Island, Dewees Island, SC - developed the environmental guidelines for all residential development on the island.
Chattahoochee Nature Center, Roswell, GA - developed with the staff of the Nature Center, to create a wetland habitat where an asphalt parking lot was demolished from the property.
